Death & Non-Death Losses

Grief is a natural/normal response to a loss, whether it is death or non-death related. No matter which type of loss you may be facing, grief can take a toll on many different domains in your life (e.g., physical, mental, social, and spiritual). The experience of grief is unique to the griever, so there is no right/wrong way to grieve. However, recovering can be the hardest thing you have ever experienced.

While people who experience the death of a loved one often experience unexpected reactions/responses from others, the pain from non-death related losses is often invalidated. We aim to validate your pain no matter what type of loss you may be facing. Grief counseling allows a safe place to acknowledge, identify, and express feelings. Grief counseling also helps one to manage the pain of the loss, work through memories, increase support, and explore ways to make life good again.
